Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

The short version: Cusp runs on your device — there is no account and no server we control. Your caffeine log and the Apple Health data the app reads stay on your iPhone. Your settings and evening notes also sync through your own private iCloud so they survive a reinstall. No tracking, no ads, no selling of your data.

1. Who is responsible

The controller responsible for this app and your data under data-protection law is:

Jan Mölleken
Straße 18, 15
13089 Berlin, Germany
Email: support@jnmcloud.de

2. What data the app processes

Cusp processes the following data on your device:

With your permission, the app also writes to Apple Health: your own caffeine entries, and — when you set your "lights out" — a sleep/in-bed marker, so your sleep onset can be derived. This information then appears alongside the rest of your health data. You choose which Apple Health categories to grant, and you can change or revoke this at any time in the iOS Settings app.

3. Where your data is stored, and iCloud sync

Your caffeine log and the Apple Health data the app reads are processed and stored on your device. Cusp has no backend server of its own and never sends this data to us or to any third party.

So that your data survives reinstalling the app and stays consistent across your devices, your settings and evening notes are also stored in your personal iCloud (Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store). This uses your own iCloud account and Apple's encryption — the data goes only to your private iCloud, and we never receive it. You can turn this off by signing out of iCloud on your device. Your Apple Health data is read live on your device and is not uploaded by the app.

4. No tracking, no analytics, no advertising

The app contains no third-party analytics, tracking or advertising frameworks. It does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not build a profile of you for marketing, and does not sell or share your data with anyone. In particular, health and sleep data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never disclosed to third parties.

5. Apple Watch

The optional Apple Watch companion lets you log drinks and set your "lights out" from your wrist. It sends these actions to your iPhone over Apple's on-device connectivity (WatchConnectivity); the data is then stored as described above. No separate collection or upload happens on the watch.

6. Purchases (subscriptions & Lifetime)

Pro is offered as an auto-renewable subscription — including an introductory free trial — or as a one-time purchase (Lifetime). The payment, the free trial and all subscription management are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store; Cusp never sees your payment details. Apple processes this data under Apple's Privacy Policy. The app only stores, on your device, whether Pro is currently unlocked.

7. Notifications

If you enable the optional reminders — such as your evening reminder or a "last call" before your cut-off — the app schedules local notifications on your device. No notification data is sent to any external server.

8. How long data is kept & how to delete it

Your data stays for as long as you keep it. You are in full control:

9. Your rights

Because your data is processed locally and stored only on your own device and in your own iCloud, we hold no copy of it on any server we control — so we cannot access, export or delete it for you remotely; you control it directly. Under the GDPR you nevertheless have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection. If you have any question about your data, contact us at support@jnmcloud.de. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority.

10. Children

Cusp is not directed at children and does not knowingly process data from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The current version is always available at this URL, with the date shown at the top.
